The drying of materials is an important unit operation in a manufacturing process. It is achieved through application of various drying units. This project was initiated to collect technical data on a drying unit designated as ''Continuous Tray Dryer (CTD)". For this study, a continuous tray dryer along with hot air system was designed - and fabricated in the G.s.Div. of PCSIR Labs. Complex, Lahore. The same was installed, commissioned and successfully operated in R.I.Div. The unit was subjected to one month operation during which its performance was satisfacory. Various materials can be dried on the unit but wheat was selected for conducting operational test. The drying paramete? such as Temperature, Moisture, Air ,distribution, Residence Time were studied. The drying rate curves were drawn which established the suitability of CTD unit for drying purposes.en_US
