Abstract: The term 'cropping system' implies the annual crop production activity of a farm. It includes growing of different pre-assigned sequence of crops on the same piece of land over time. This type of study involves the interactions of different cropping systems with physical, biological, economic. and environmental parameters. The present research project entitled 'Evaluation of Economics of Various Cropping systems under Dera Ismail Khan conditions' was designed lo study agro-economic performance of different selected legume and non legume cropping systems and different interventions to include those crops into the traditional wheat - fa11ow cropping system. The study was conducted at Faculty of Agriculture, City campus. Gomal lJniversity, Dera Ismail Khan, NWFP, Pakistan and Rakh Bibi campus or the same institute during 1995-96 and 1996-97. The experimental sites arc located at longitude 71 ° 55' East and latitude 31 ° 49' North. The soil series on which the study was conducted is described as Zindani clay loam to clay. The following two sets of experiments were laid out to assess one of the best cropping system and its economics. 1. 'Studies on different cropping systems' 2. 'Effect of different NP fertilizer levels on different cropping systems'.
