Abstract: The present work describes electrodeposition of FeNi alloy on mild steel using sulphate bath with some organic additives. Chemical composition of the bath and operating conditions have been optimized to achieve microstructures having improved surface properties. Ionic and electrodics have been developed which are comparatively economical and environmentally safe. Code position of FeNi, FeCr and FeCu alloys on mild steel have been studied using direct current electrolysis. Composition, structure and colour of the deposit were studied as function of different parameters. Conditions were optimized for smooth and adherent deposit on mild steel. The deposited alloys were analyzed by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy and surface morphology was studied by scanning electron Microscopy. This work also describes a novel idea of using the locally available primary sources of heavy metals directly as raw material for electrodeposition.
