Title: Development of Amino ACID Esters Hydrobromide Salts as Antimicrobial Antimoth & Anti-Cockroach Agents

Abstract: Although some amino acids are known to increase antibacterial action of blood against E. Coli, enhance blood sugar level by supporting post germinative development of bacilus magaterium spores, show toxicity and inhibit growth of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms (1-4). Moreover metal complexes of amino acid are antibacterial agents whereas few influence blood pressure or act as antinicotinic agents and strongly inhibit ADP-induced platelet aggregation in homostatis (5-8). Only glycine and alanine ester mixed hydrohalide salts preparation are reported (9-11). Hydrobromide salts of alkyl esters of various classes of amino acids i.e. acidic, neutral and basic have not been synthesized before using primary, secondary or tertiary alkyl alcohols. However, syntheses of few alkyl esters hydrochloride salts and their screening for microbial activity have been reported recently (12-15). The syntheses of water soluble aminoacid ester hydrobromide salts have not been attempted before. Antimicrobial activities are not reported on pathogenic Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms nor toxicology test on albino rats are studied for short term toxic effects and morality rate. The present study includes preparation of various types of amino acid esters as their hydrobromide and hydrochloride salts by either Fisher method or modified Fischer esterification procedure involving various primary alkyl alcohols and a variety of amino acids. Since these esters shall be in the form of hydrohalide salts they shall remain soluble in water and their bactericidal activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria such as S. Typhi, E. Coli, V. Cholera, B. Cereus, S. Aureus and B. Subtilis can be studied. The principal aim shall be to screen out these amino acids as precursors which may find their utilization as potential chemotherapeutic agents for the development of non-antibiotic bactericidal agents. The study shall be prompted also due to the fact that sych drugs at the end may serve as an alternate source of medication to those who show resistance or allergy to conventional antibiotics such as penicillin, streptomycin, chloramphenicol etc. the initial antimicrobial as well as LD-50 toxicological tests shall be carried out on albino rats under WHO designs. Antimoth and anticockroach activity shall be studied at various concentrations of the ester salts.
