With depletion of water resources and increase in water demand Government of Pakistan has moved forward towards construction of small dams/weirs, Bazkhando recharge weir being one of such projects. So far the purpose of construction of this weir is to capture the catchment runoff during the monsoon and recharge the aquifer for human and livestock consumption in command area of this project. Due to the lack of comprehensive water management plan, its implementation and subsequent development in the project area, it is witnessed that scope of water use is limited compared to its potential. So it is urgent need to propose and implement various viable options for Bazkhando command area development to boost and optimize the use of the stored water for achievement of optimal and sustainable benefits. This article aims at bridging this gap between water potential and it's utilization for improving socio-economic conditions of the living community and making the project productive and proficient by proposing a comprehensive command area development plan in line with principles of IWRM for Bazkhando weir command.en_US
