Abstract: This paper proposes a novel dual rotor permanent magnet flux switching machine having wedge shape permanent magnet for various electric and hybrid electric drives applications. The presently existing PM machines for EV and HEV applications have the problem of flux leakage in yokeless stator topology while other machines have a critical factor of high cost PM material. The paper presents the comparison of two different machine topologies along with proposed model, all these designs are verified using J-MAG designer via 2D-FEA. The analysis reveals that proposed topology present excellent results with maximum flux linkage and high average and instantaneous torques at various current densities in comparison with PMFSM with yokeless stator and dual rotor radial shape permanent magnet machines. Proposed model combines dual rotor with wedge shape magnet by eliminating flux leakage problem for yokeless stator topology and also better magnetic flux linkage and torque characteristics compared to radial shape dual rotor PMFSM topology.
