Abstract: Objective: To determine the relationship between perceived social support and mental health problems in women with primary and secondary infertility. Methodology: Using the cross-sectional research design, total number of 150 infertile women (87 primary and 63 secondary) with the age range of 21 to 40 (Mean 28.895.05) were selected from two infertility centers through purposive sampling from August 4, 2017 to December 5, 2018. They were given Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support and Depression Anxiety Stress Scale along with demographic performa. Debriefing sessions were conducted at the end of interview. Results: There was negative relation between perceived social support and mental health problems of infertile women. Women with primary infertility had less social support and more mental health problems as compared to women with secondary infertility. Age, education and family support were predictors of mental health problems. Conclusions: Infertile women suffering from various psycho-social problems indicate the importance of increasing social support, which makes them less vulnerable towards mental health problems. This enhances the need to develop structured programs including counseling of couples and family members, especially of in-laws.
