Abstract: Behaviour of six wheat varieties viz. Punjab-96, Shahkar-95, Pervaz-94, Inqelab91, Pasban-90 and Rohtas-90 was evaluated in pot supplied with P @ 0 and 75 mg kg'1 Phosphorus application significantly increased top and root dry matter yield (DMY) and P uptake by plants. Differences in dry matter production and P uptake among varieties were minimum without P (control) but varied significantly by P application. Cultivar Punjab96 produced maximum DMY but contained minimum P concentration in both tops and roots as compared to Shahkar-95 while the two cultivars accumulated similar amount of P. Phosphorus uptake efficiency was higher but P utilization efficiency for dry matter production was lower in Shahkar-95 than in Punjab-96.
