There is increasing power and energy shortage in Pakistan from last two decades. It is the need of the time to explore new avenues for power production, keeping in view the environmental impact and the concept of sustainability. Utilization of wind energy for production of power become very attractive in current scenario. Massive wind energy potential is available at the coastal areas of Sindh in Pakistan. In this research wind data available from Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) is analyzed and it is found that off shore wind turbines having lots of benefits over onshore wind turbines have promising applicability in Karachi coastal areas. Hence with the help of off shore wind turbines the total electricity load of Karachi city i.e. 2500 MW can be handled. For this purpose a practical scheme has also been proposed.en_US
