Abstract: Dibenzoylmethanemono(tosylhydrazone) undergoes cyclisation reaction with butyllithium and lead tetraacetate to afford 3,5-diphenylpyrazole in good yield in both cases. Mechanistic schemes have been postulated to account for these reactions.
