Abstract: The catalytic activity of N,N-ethylenebis (salicylideneaminato) copper (II) during intramolecular cyclopropanation of unsaturated α-diazo-β-ketoester has been studied. The resulting bicyclic intermediate is the precursor of A ring synthon of vitamin D.
