Usefulness of titanium as cathode is emphasized; a simple and easy to employ method for etching of titanium surface for its reproducible renewal is described. Electrochemical kinetics of nitrate reduction was investigated on its surface, in comparison to other metal cathodes such as gold and aluminum using linear-sweep-voltammetery. Enhancement of current was observed with rising concentration of nitrate in each case. The apparent electrochemical reaction order for nitrate reduction was also evaluated for each cathode.en_US
