Diabetes mellitus type-2 is a sweet killer disease, yet to be conquered. The frequency of this disease is constantly growing, emphasizing the need of new insights into the disorder's ground realities and novel strategies for the treatment of this disease. Many herbs are used to treat diabetes mellitus type-2 in all the areas of world predominantly in Asia and Africa. The main reason which promote investigators to hunt for new anti-diabetic herbs is the side effects coupled with the conventional and non-conventional drugs. Diabetes mellitus type-2 is a complicated and heterogeneous disease due to the mutations in many genes, called diabetogenes. This article is meant to describe the mechanism of action of anti-diabetic herbs in association with diabetogenes. There is a scant amount of scientific data revealing the molecular mechanisms of herbal drugs but lot of efforts are under the way to find out the molecular mechanism of these herbal drugs which will be helpful in discovering the reliable treatment for diabetes mellitus type-2.en_US
