dc.description.abstractFor the first time eleven compounds have been isolated from the ethyl acetate soluble fraction of whole plant of Grewia tenax namely, β-sitosterol (1), β-sitosteryl acetate (2), β-amyrin (3), β-amyrin acetate (4), 5α,8α-epidioxyergosta-6,22-diene-3β-ol (5), 5α,8α-epidioxyergosta6,9(11),22-trien-3β-ol (6), α-taraxerol (7), betulin (8), stigmasterol (9), oleanolic acid (10) and stigmasterol 3-O-β-D-glucoside (11) respectively. All the compounds were evaluated for their antimicrobial activity.en_US
