Industrial waste constitutes the major source of various kinds of pollution in natural water and toxicity from heavy metals has been reported worldwide. The presence of arsenic in water is major problem these days. High arsenic concentrations have been reported recently from the USA, China, Chile, Bangladesh, Taiwan, Mexico, Argentina, Poland, Canada, Hungary, Japan and India. Arsenic pollution also has emerged as a serious public health concern in Pakistan also. The presence of metal in drinking water is of special concern because of its persistence and toxicity. Different adsorbents are used to remove arsenic from water. In present review paper arsenic contamination, its toxicity and its removal from drinking water using different adsorbents is described.en_US
