Abstract: The dynamics of a finite-thickness imploding spinning gas-puff is studied for a staged pinch device. Our numerical results demonstrate that although large spin velocities help to suppress R–T instability, but they adversely affect the fusion parameters. However, with a normalized puff thickness of Lp = 0.01 and spin velocities between Ω = (1.0 – 2.0) × 10-3 ns-1, one may achieve a stable pinch plasma close to thermonuclear fusion conditions. We also studied the effect of opacity on the temperature of the fiber at the final stage. Our findings would be relevant in gas-liner and staged pinch experiments for realizing fusion conditions.
