Abstract: This study was conducted on the topic of “ social isolation in old age, responsibilities of family members, rights of senior citizens, a case study of Quetta district ” . Since there was not much research has been conducted on the problems of senior citizens so the researcher felt the need to do some work on one of it’s aspects the “ social isolation ” which usually emerge in old age. So the present study was conducted to explore the relationship between social isolation and sex. Following hypothesis were formulated “ there are difference in the level of social isolation between aged (retired) male and female ” . Theoretical frame work was developed with the help of interested propositions draw from the work of smart and smart (1976) crow and crow (1959). Livson (1962) and rose (1962). A sample of 70 persons containing 35 male and 35 female was draw from the universe. The universe for the present study was the seniors citizens (retired of Quetta district). The research hypothesis was up held showing a significant relationship between and social isolation. Two other relationships were also tested. (1) The relationship between social isolation and age fo the respondents. (2) The relationship between social isolation and income of the respondents. The relationships were tested with the help of X 2 (chi-square) formula. X 2 = [(fo-fe) 2 ], hypothesis was up held no relationship were fe formed between age, income and isolation of the persons.
