Abstract: Crude extract, essential oil and oleoresin of fresh Zingeber Officinale Roscoe was studied for their antioxidant activity. Free radical scavenging activity was determined using DPPH free radical assay which based on the inhibition of the free radical 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). Concentrations 20-100% of these were prepared and their antioxidant activity was determined by spectrophotometer at 517 nm. Results indicate that oleoresin has highest antioxidant activity (72.19% inhibition) followed by essential oil (62.15% inhibition) and crude extract (40.06% inhibition), BHA was used as control for comparison. It may consider as a good source of natural antioxidant.
